Grow Your Own Apothecary

Are you ready to bring back the old ways?

To help you decide if this weekend workshop is the right fit, here is a clear snapshot of the key details and who it is for

What is this Weekend About?

There was a time when every home had an apothecary.

Not a big fancy cabinet. Just a shelf or a cupboard with simple remedies for everyday things like coughs, colds, cuts, burns, pain and sleep.

People didn’t panic when someone got ill.
They knew what to do.

This weekend is about bringing that knowledge back.

This is not about becoming a herbalist.
It’s about home, family, and everyday health.

You’ll learn how to use herbs, kitchen ingredients and traditional remedies to support common ailments, and how to start building your own home apothecary.

Everything is practical, hands-on, and grounded in real life.

What You will Learn

Over the weekend, you will learn how to:

Create and use your own home apothecary

Use herbs and natural remedies for common ailments

Grow and forage your own medicine

Use simple kitchen ingredients for everyday health support

Understand what to use and when

Bring traditional knowledge back into your home

This is knowledge you can actually use, not just something you listen to and forget.

Who it’s for

Do you wish you knew what to do when someone in the house gets ill?

Do you want to rely less on shop-bought medicine for every little thing?

Do you feel drawn to herbs, foraging, and traditional ways of living?

Do you want practical knowledge you can actually use at home?

Do you like the idea of making your own remedies instead of buying everything?

Do you want to feel more confident looking after yourself and your family?

If you’re nodding along… this weekend is for you.

You don’t need any experience.
You don’t need to know any plants.
You just need to be interested and open to learning

What You Will Take Home

Over the weekend, you won’t just be listening and learning — you’ll be making remedies throughout the workshop.

You’ll make a range of herbal remedies and traditional preparations, and you’ll choose five remedies to take home with you for your own apothecary.

More importantly, you’ll go home with:

The knowledge of what to use and when

The confidence to treat common ailments at home

The understanding of how to build your own home apothecary

Practical skills you can use for the rest of your life

You don’t just leave with jars. You leave with knowledge and confidence.

Overview

Three days of learning, making and creating your own home apothecary

This is a full weekend of hands-on learning where you’ll be making remedies, learning traditional knowledge and building the confidence to look after yourself and your family at home.

Guests relaxing in a serene retreat space

Everything we do is practical. You won’t just be listening — you’ll be making, mixing, learning and asking questions as we go. This is knowledge you can actually use in real life.

The weekend is held on our land in South West Wales, and people stay here camping or in their campervans, which means the weekend feels relaxed and unhurried. There’s time to sit around the fire, talk, share knowledge and be around other people who are interested in the same things.

Many people come on their own and don’t know anyone else when they arrive. By the end of the weekend, people have usually made new friends and are already planning which workshop they’re coming back for next.

You’ll spend three days learning skills that used to be normal in every home — how to make remedies, how to use herbs and kitchen ingredients, and how to start building your own home apothecary.

You’ll leave with five remedies you’ve made yourself and the confidence to treat common ailments at home.

How the days tend to unfold.

We move gently, but with intention.

There is space to settle, Space to play, Space to feel, Space to integrate.

You’re welcome to arrive from 10am on Friday to set up your tent or campervan, settle into the land and take your time.

The programme begins at 4pm.

We don’t rush you in.

There’s space to breathe before we begin.

Day 1 Friday Arrival and settling in

At 4pm, we gather for our opening circle and introductions.

After dinner, we move gently into our first Inner Child Healing session — setting the tone for the weekend.

The evening closes around the campfire. Singing, ukuleles, laughter and simple connection. Nothing forced. Just warmth.

Day 2 Saturday Connection, learning and time on the land

Saturday is a full day together, gently held and unhurried. There is space to move, learn, rest, and connect, with plenty of breathing room in between.

There will be a mixture of:

  • Remedy making sessions

  • Learning what to use and when

  • Foraging and plant identification

  • Growing and harvesting medicine

  • Kitchen remedies and traditional knowledge

There is always time to sit, have a cup of tea, ask questions and talk.
This is not rushed and you don’t need to remember everything — you are learning skills, not just information.

In the evening, we gather for a sound bath, giving you time to rest, integrate everything you’ve learned and properly relax after a full day.

After the sound bath, for those who don’t feel ready for an early night, we usually gather around the campfire for conversation, and sometimes a bit of drumming. Nothing formal, just a nice way to end the day together.

Day 3 Finishing, packing and taking your apothecary home

Sunday is about finishing remedies, labelling, packing and making sure you understand what everything is for and how to use it.

We take time to go over:

  • What each remedy is for

  • When to use it

  • How to store it

  • How to continue building your apothecary at home

We finish mid-day so people have time to travel home.

You’ll leave with five remedies you’ve made yourself and the confidence to treat common ailments at home.

We take time to go over:

What past guests say about our herbal weekends

“I've learnt so much and come home with lots of goodies”

We keep our workshops small and hands-on so everyone can be involved, ask questions and actually learn by doing.
Here are a few words from people who have joined us before.

"So many times I feel I am doing life alone and I know from my inner strength I can do it alone, but this weekend I found connection and felt a real sisterhood. You realise through love, laughter and feeling safe that there are others out there who will stand by you.

Thank you Kathy for creating that space, and thank you to everyone for their love, energy and most of all laughter."

L Farmer

"Everyone needs to do at least one Herbal Remedies weekend. The knowledge is invaluable and you leave feeling more confident to look after yourself and help others. Absolutely fabulous weekend, with the beautiful bonus of reconnecting with an inspiring group of people."

M Dunne

"Such a beautiful weekend. I learnt so much, and when I went on my dog walk the next morning I was looking at all the plants with a completely new set of eyes. Thank you for such a great weekend of knowledge"

Frequently Asked Questions

Thinking about coming but still have a few questions? You’re not alone. Here’s what people usually want to know.

Do I need any previous herbal knowledge?

No, not at all. This weekend is suitable for complete beginners as well as those who already have an interest in herbs and natural remedies. Everything is taught step-by-step and you will learn by doing, not just by listening.

What will I make during the weekend?

During the weekend, you will learn how to grow, harvest, prepare and make your own herbal remedies. This may include tinctures, oils, salves, teas and other herbal preparations depending on the season and what plants are available.

You will be making your own remedies to take home with you.

What’s included in my ticket price?

Your ticket includes:

All workshops and teaching across the weekend

All materials and ingredients needed for the remedies you make

Camping on the land (tent or campervan)

A full weekend learning experience in nature

Use of the facilities

Food:
Food is not included in the ticket price, but affordable meals and snacks are available to purchase on site, or you are very welcome to bring and cook your own food.

Accommodation upgrades (optional extras):

Glamping bell tent (+ additional cost)

Shared indoor accommodation bed (+ additional cost)

What is your refund policy?

All bookings are non-refundable and non-transferable.
If you cancel or do not attend for any reason, you will not receive a refund, so we strongly recommend that you take out travel insurance.

If we have to cancel the workshop, you will be offered a transfer to another event or a credit voucher to use at a future event.

Where will I be staying?

You can stay:

In your own tent (included)

In your campervan (included)

In a glamping bell tent (additional cost)

In shared indoor accommodation (additional cost per bed)

You will select your accommodation option on the booking form.

Is this weekend suitable if I come on my own?

Yes, many people come on their own. The weekend is very friendly and relaxed, and people usually get to know each other very quickly because you are learning and making things together

What should I bring?

After booking, you will be sent a full “What to Bring” list, but in general you will need:

Your tent or campervan (unless glamping)

Bedding or sleeping bag

Warm clothes and waterproofs

Notebook and pen

Mug and water bottle

Suitable outdoor footwear

What if the weather is bad?

This workshop will still go ahead in most weather conditions — this is Wales after all, and the rain is what keeps everything so beautifully green.

We have indoor and covered spaces available, so the weekend will still run even if the weather is wet. Some parts of the weekend, such as plant walks and foraging, will still take place outdoors, so please bring suitable clothing, waterproofs and sturdy footwear.

Only in very extreme or unsafe weather conditions would we need to postpone the workshop. If this happens, you will be offered a transfer to another date or a credit voucher.

If you’ve been wanting to learn how to make your own remedies, this is your sign.

Come and spend a weekend on the land learning, making and reconnecting.

Spots are limited to keep our gatherings intimate.
